As inevitable as the rolling tides and the passing of a monarch, Sony has ended all production of the PS2, so that its progenitors may thrive.
Sony’s PlayStation 2 is still going strong with worldwide sales surpassing the 150 million mark, not too shabby for a system that’s over a decade old. It was originally released in Japan in March 2000, which seems like ages ago.
Those lucky Brazilians. Edge reports that Sony is releasing the bright and shiny nine year old PlayStation 2 in Brazil for the U.S. equivalent of $445.00! Software prices will range from US$55.00 and US$66.00. 14 launch games will be available, like Gran Turismo 4 and God of War III. I’m guessing all this is the official, legal release.
