In a move redolent to Epic Games creating an entire new studio to give a couple of ex-Big Huge Games devs a new place to call home, Crytek has just opened a new studio in Austin, Texas comprised of some Vigil Games developers who recently lost their jobs due to the studio’s closure.
Crysis 2 looks good and developer Crytek knows this. The intro credit says “Achieved with CryEngine 3,” and the first achievement you get is called “Can it run Crysis?” However, pretty visuals alone don’t impress me. Luckily, Crysis 2 offers more than just its console-PC flame war inducing graphics. It’s also a fantastic game and a serious contender for the best shooter of 2011.
Looks like the debate on violent video games in Germany is continuing to heat up. German developer Crytek has renewed threats to leave the country if the government passes the outright ban on violent video games, according to Gamepolitics. Crytek is best known for developing Farcry and Crysis.
