Oh January! The month that video games seem to avoid like the plague. You and December just can’t catch a break.
November has come once again to grace its presence upon the games industry. You can tell because every store that carries new games visibly sinks a little bit every Tuesday. So then, what jewel shall we find in this week’s pile of new games?
Christmas is a-coming. Can you feel it? Can you feel your game store filling up with games you’ve never heard of? Have you seen the annual signs yet like the Call of Duty or Professor Layton games lining store shelves? If you haven’t you’ll see one this week.
Missed me? So did I (long story). All that matters now is that I’m back, and just as depressing as ever. No amount of meds can fix this busted ass brain of mine. Shall we get on with it?
Summer has officially started. Break out the coolers and the sunscreen as we leave our consoles at home making a nice little, rectangular-shaped dust free zone on your shelf. Don’t worry about them. They’ll be fine. I’m sure they won’t run amok in your house and burn it to the ground or anything. But just in case, why don’t you try feeding them these titles before you head out to the beach next time.
Making room for yet another gargantuan time blackhole RPG(?) that is Diablo 3 this week, our releases have trickled down to one brave/foolhardy soul. Whether or not it can get anybody’s attention in Diablo 3’s wake depends entirely on whether or not Battle.net mysteriously goes down and doesn’t come back up for weeks relievingrobbing people of the opportunity to play it and forcing them to play something else. But what are the chances of that happening.
Hot on the heels of Modern Warfare 3, Sledgehammer Games is recruiting for its “Call of Duty development team”. The studio has posted a job listing in which new employees will work on a “an unannounced high-end console title”, which is obviously Call of Duty.
A single disc of the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was stolen from a shipping warehouse in Fresno,California. It was the second disc of the two-disc set, it is unclear what content is contained in the disc. Naturally, pirated copies are circulating the web.
I’m beginning to notice a really weird trend. Every other week, game of the year contenders gets released while the weeks in between get either almost nothing of any worth or fairly niche titles. Looks like this week falls sort of in the latter.
