Kotaku posted an interesting article about college professor Michael Abbott who teaches the history of video games to undergraduates (18-19 years old). His students are required to play old stuff like Defender and I assume Pong, Pac-Man, etc. But he had one game that they couldn’t take: Ultima IV.
Wii Remote Plus “is real” Says Nintendo
Tired of having to take off the Wii Motion Plus when you want to play Guitar Hero or the Wii Zapper? Fret not, because Eurogamer (via 1UP) has spotted what is called the Wii Remote Plus on the box art for the upcoming Wii Motion Plus required, Wii game FlingSmash at Gamestop’s websites. According to the box art, the Wii Remote Plus will be bundled in with the game like the old Wii Remotes are with Wii Play.
Halo: Reach Sells Only 44,000 Copies in Japan
The gap in tastes between Japanese and Western gamers continues to be prevalent. First person shooters have never been that popular in Japan, further evidenced by the fact that Halo: Reach only sold 44,413 copies during its launch week, according to Industrygamers. This effectively puts Bungie’s blockbuster at fourth place there.

Capcom Director: Japanese Game Makers 5 Years Behind
There was a time when Japan was at the vanguard of the game industry. That was also a time when Japanese developers had no real competition. But with Microsoft’s console firmly established as a contender as well as the phenomenal successes of Western developed games like the Grand Theft Auto series and the Call of Duty series, Japanese developers have been in a “rut” as of late. This trend is not lost on Capcom managing director Keiji Inafune, according to an article on Gamespot.

A Game Breaking Bug found in Metroid: Other M
Despite being a solid entry in the Metroid series, Other M has some glaring flaws. One of them is oppressive linearity. And did I mention how much I absolutely loathe the forced scanning sections? Well another issue has come up: certain gamers are running into a bug in Other M that makes it impossible to progress, and the only way to get around it is to load a previous save before the bug occurred or start over, reports IGN.
