I’ll just say what most people are thinking: Somalia…with its lack of food, infrastructure, and a stable government actually has video games? Yes, until today when Somalia’s Islamist insurgents banned video games, reports AFP. They argue that games are destroying the country’s social fabric. Well, they’re not fond of girls going to school either.

Recently Microsoft has been slowly letting the public know about an upcoming event that will be held in our own backyard of San Francisco. There they plan on showing off some of the upcoming games, ad-ons, and accessories that we can expect in 2010 (such as Natal). Among these games include Halo: Reach, Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, and Final Fantasy XII. Today on its Facebook page, however, Microsoft has confirmed several rumors about Fable 3 and its status at X10. In the past couple of weeks, we normally see one big-ish release coming out, but this week is aiming for something a little more familiar. Each of the home consoles is having their own notable release as if they were competing to win this completely nondescript week. Is there a hidden Christmas I never hear off or something? What’s so special about the 4th week of January? Whatever it is, at least we get to reap its benefits.

Maybe… Maybe. At the moment however there is no current project for any Mass Effect movie being pursued at this time, the game’s project director Casey Hudson has stated they’ve been picking up a lot of Hollywood attention. Read more
