As usual, the next gen systems are getting jack squat aside from two fighting games. The Wii and DS, however, are getting some movie licensed games that oddly enough isn’t appearing on the other systems. Then again, the movies in question aren’t exactly Blockbuster material. Hope you Wii and DS owners like your B-movie licensed games.

I find it amazing how fast time flies. it feels like just yesterday I was watching the BCS Bowl games and now here we are NCAA 10 in hand, Madden 10 right around the corner and of course real football games soon after. It’s the time of the year where pain is gain, coaches earn their pay and every fan still has hope of a National Championship (no matter how delusional that thought may be). The year of 10 is upon us, rejoice my friend’s because this season is off to one great start.
The Week In Review
Welcome one and welcome all to the recap to cap off your week with. If it happened during the week you’ll no doubt re-hear about it here, with a bit of a sarcastic and witty twist of course. They say hindsight is 20/20 so lets look back at the stories that broke this week that made us laugh, cry, gasp and say WHY GAWD, WHY?!?!?
MySpace…A Place for Gaming??
Reuters reports that MySpace parent company News Corp is planning to transform the social networking site into an entertainment hub with a strong online videogaming platform.
Part of Times Square Turned into a Wii Sports Resort
On July 23, Nintendo transformed Military Island in Times Square into Wuhu Island (of Wii Fit running minigame fame) in anticipation of the July 26 North American release of Wii Sports Resort.
43 Million Kills and 600,000 Downloads Later
If the general public was craving a new theater of war for their shooter games, the numbers clearly don’t reflect it. In about a week BF 1943 has shattered all previous download records for both Xbox live and the Playstation Network, selling over 600,000 copies across all platforms. No other game worldwide has been able to reach such a goal.
Stan Lee to Make Cameo in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2
Activision announced today that comic book legend (god of the Marvel universe) Stan Lee will make his first video game cameo in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, set for release in September. It’s not that surprising, since he makes a cameo in all the Marvel movies. His character, who will have Lee’s voice and likeness, is pivotal to the game’s Marvel Civil War influenced storyline.

“With great power comes great responsibility”. Seems Activision had forgotten one of, if not the, main tenants in the Spider-Man universe, because ever since finishing work on Spider-Man 2: The Video Game they’ve failed to put up a Spider-Man game to the high standard they themselves set. With Web of Shadows it appears they may be back on the right track, however the game makes one terrible first impression.

Quite honestly there’s nothing better than a day at the ballpark watching your favorite team, eating your favorite ballpark snack and getting your ridiculously expensive drink on. Scary part is MLB 09 brings this feeling to you. Forget overpriced parking, concessions, and armchair GMing its time to grab your favorite snack, sit in that all too familiar chair and controller up to dive into the most realistic, deep and engaging baseball game on the market.
Motion Plus Unfeasible at Wii’s Release
The Wii Motion Plus’ added precision to the Wiimote is a welcomed addition to the controller, but it does bring up the question of why it wasn’t that way in the first place. As it turns out,it could’ve been done, but you’d probably wouldn’t want it.
