Alone in the Dark
June 23, 2008
When certain games go multiplatform, the Wii unfortunately gets the short end of the stick sometimes. I haven’t played the Xbox 360 version, but judging from its screenshots, it looks halfway decent. After playing this Wii version, on the other hand, it is obvious the developers spent the bulk of their time on the 360 version and pretty much neglected this one. Everything about this game is broken to the point of barely playable. Did anyone bother to play test this mess? There were times that I wanted to take out the disc and smash it with a hammer. It’s just that awful.
Space Invaders Extreme
June 17, 2008
I didn’t realize that Space Invaders is 30 years old now. This update reintroduces the venerable granddaddy of 2D shooters to nostalgic Gen-Xers. (Yes, I know…the 80’s were awesome. We get it. ) and youngsters who have never known a world without 3D graphics. Read more
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
June 15, 2008
Flash back to 2001 and Zone of Enders was the game to get, and it wasn’t because it was good (which is debatable), but instead it was a commodity because the game included what would become another seminal turning point in console gaming history. Read more
Backyard Baseball 2009
June 11, 2008
This game belongs in officially licensed game purgatory for all the sins against mankind it commits while it spins in you Wii. And while we’re at it can someone please check if Nintendo is actually doing some quality control on 3rd party games, or just simply sitting back and waiting for the royalty checks to start coming in the mail. The Incredible Hulk
June 5, 2008
The Incredible Hulk follows the events of the action packed 2008 movie, which was way better than that 2003 snoozefest (psychobabble, The Hulk finally!, psychobabble, Nick Nolte!?). In addition, the Hulk will encounter enemies not featured in the movie, such as the megalomaniacal scientists of the Enclave and those Fantastic Four wannabes, the U-Foes. After escaping from General Ross in an abandoned warehouse, the Hulk will set his giant green feet in the city of New York, just like every other comic book character.
Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures
June 3, 2008
Lego Indiana Jones takes us through the good archaeologist’s original adventures before he became eligible for discounts at Denny’s. (See Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, or better yet…don’t.) Like the Star Wars saga before it, Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Temple of Doom, and the Last Crusade are given the Lego makeover. And like Lego Star Wars, there’s also a fun, puzzle-based adventure underneath, too.
