UEFA Euro 2008

UEFA presents the “beautiful game” in what can arguably be described as it’s 2nd most intense tournament. Nowhere on earth are fans so enthusiastic and prideful in their futbol than in Europe, and UEFA does an excellent job of bringing that excitement and pride to life. The most interesting, and fun aspect of the game is the gameplay mode “Captain your Country” that lets you grow through you Country’s international team ranks from the B squad to Euro Cup finals captain. What I found so interesting was that although you only got control of your of your created player, in this mode, it took more tactical thought to balance putting your player and team in the best position to succeed.

The major downside is that beyond “Captain your Country” the game doesn’t offer much more and the freshness and engaging factor quickly fades. This means that most gamers will find themselves quickly disenfranchised with UEFA. The game all around is fundamentally sound, but not the type of game you lose sleep over to get your hands back on the controller, well at least for too long.

Pros:

• “Captain you Country” is fresh and engaging the first time around
• You’ll find yourself playing “one more game”

Cons:

• Only one really worthwhile gameplay mode that can grow stale after a single play though.
• Your created player can only be used in Friendly matches and in Captain your Country which is highly disappointing
