Baroque

I really wanted to like Baroque. It is set in the year 2032, where the world is in ruin and subject to a constantly shifting reality after a cataclysmic event called “The Blaze”. The nameless protagonist is tasked with healing the world by atoning for a sin he cannot recall. The Archangel, leader of the Malkuth Order dedicated to “saving God”, gives the Protagonist an angelic rifle and orders him to go to the bottom of the Neuro Tower. Dying is only the beginning, meaning it advances the storyline. This bleak, post apocalyptic setting is what drew me in. The physically twisted characters are well acted, while the atmospheric soundtrack enhances the eeriness and depression. But dammit, if only the gameplay were up to par…
