If there is one game you purchase this year, let it be anything other than Action Girlz Racing. I mean it. You can have more fun entering friend codes into your Wii than you can playing this shoddy addition to the already over-saturated kart racing genre. Where most kart racers are just competent, though generally uninspired, Mario Kart clones, this one actually manages to be bad. Really bad. Bad to the point where you wonder what horrible atrocity you committed in a former life that would lead you to deserve such a fate, a fate worst than Superman 64. Read more

No More Heroes
January 22, 2008
Armed with an upgradeable beam katana, fauxhawked hitman Travis Touchdown is determined to rise to the top of the killers’ food chain by dispatching the country’s top 10 assassins. The humor in No More Heroes can be crude, but it’s also clever and even surprised me with self-parody. It pokes fun at itself as a video game, going so far as breaking the fourth wall. The voice work is well done and though the plot is razor thin, the dialogue is often hilariously bizarre.

There always seems to be game out every year for the button mashing-through-hordes-of-enemies Dynasty Warriors franchise. Recently the locale switched from Imperial China to feudal Japan with the Samurai Warriors series spin-off. Take that and turn it into a first person light gun (or sword?) game on rails and you have Samurai Warriors: Katana.
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity
January 8, 2008
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity is the sequel to the original Sonic Riders released two years ago. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles set out to retrieve the legendary “Ark of the Cosmos”, an artifact that controls gravity. They must also contend with the haywire robots from the Meteor Tech Corporation and the avian thieves, the Babylon Rogues. To do this, they race hover boards and other anti-gravity vehicles around various themed tracks.
