Mass Effect Review
November 30, 2007
RPGs comes in many shapes and sizes. You’ve got your standard D&D style game with dungeons and dragons and knights. You’ve got your JRPG with your spiky haired, androgynous protagonist and ludicrous plotlines. Then you’ve got your Bioware RPGs. ”What’s a Bioware RPG,” you may be asking. Well, play anyone of their RPG, and you can bet that all they’re other RPGs are going to have some very similar mechanics.

If I were to go back to before the Xbox 360 came out and told myself that one of the best games that’s going to be on the 360, home of graphical powerhouses like Gears of War and Bioshock, is a game with graphics that’s only marginally better than those old school vector graphics arcade games, I wouldn’t believe a word of it. He/I would also be dead wrong. Geometry Wars Retro Evolved instantly became a killer app for the 360 on launch day, and ever since, people have been clamoring for a sequel. Those people got their wish. Just not exactly how they hoped it would be. Read more
Final Fantasy: Revenant Wings Review
November 21, 2007
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings should already be considered one of the better games on the DS, it is well worth the price of admission but can run a tad long, especially if you plan to gain the magical 100% completion mark. It is versatile enough to be played at home while also watching TV or on the go while at work or waiting for transport with its quick missions and abundant saves. The game had such a great impression on me that I might just have to give FFXII another spin on my PS2.

Soul Calibur Legends is the back story that bridges the events of Soul Blade and Soul Calibur. Instead of one-on-one fighting, it is an action-adventure in the vein of Golden Axe.
Rock Band
November 20, 2007
The sign of a truly great game is the feeling of total immersion you get while playing it. Rock Band has captured that feeling by building on the concepts of Guitar Hero goodness with the addition of bass, drums, and vocals. If you have $170.00 to splurge, three friends who have the hang of playing the game, and a roadie to set up the game, it is definitely well worth the effort. Rock Band simply rawks.

Super Mario Sunshine was not a bad game. It was fun and had comparable graphics for its time. But it didn’t really match up to the hype of being the next “Mario” game. Meaning it didn’t live up to its groundbreaking, genre redefining predecessor, Super Mario 64. Sunshine’s gameplay revolved more around the water backpack on Mario’s back than it was about Mario’s acrobatic prowess. It’s little wonder that people felt let down by it. For those people, and anyone who owns a Wii really, Super Mario Galaxy is just what the doctor ordered. Read more
