Tomb Raider was once a shining beacon of goodness in the video game world. Every release was an automatic killer app, and it was so for good reasons. They were different from the rest of the pack at the time, and they were good. But time have passed, and it seems the Tomb Raider series have trouble keeping up. The newest incarnation, Tomb Raider: Underworld, is consistently outclassed by all the other competitors out there. From Uncharted to the Prince of Persia series, Underworld simply has nothing new to offer. The combat system is boring. The obstacle course/puzzle is usually marred by bad camera angles or an obtuse level design. The story feels outright unfinished. Underworld does have some merits though. Some of the puzzles are actually fairly creative, even if it gets frustrating from time to time. The graphics are also worth notingd. Lush jungles and dark caves manage to look realistic and even somewhat inviting for exploration. Tomb Raider may have lost the lead in the 3D adventure race, but at least it’s still running with the rest of the pack.
Pros: Good graphics.
Cons: Bad camera angles. Horrible combat system.
Final Verdict: Play It.
