Discuss This Game

Not many games can get away with being cutesy, that is unless it’s for kids or the game is so awesome that it’s overlooked and becomes part of its charm. Little Big Planet is, well, frankly it’s both accessible for anyone to play and all the same awesome. They say in life that the simplest of pleasure make you the happiest and while there is some oomph under the hood for LBP its charm is in its’ simplicity. While games are becoming more complex by the cycle it’s nice to be treated to a game whose bottom line is to commune gamers in an interactive world pieced together primarily by user generated content. Therein lays what makes this game more than just some rustic, quaint platform experience. Included in LBP is a behemoth of an editing system that allows gamers the chance to let their inner Picasso roam free to create the zaniest world ever created or become Michelangelo and create your own David. The possibilities are seemingly endless and with new worlds, items and clothes for your sackperson to explore and collect every time you jump onto LBP you can expect an entirely different experience.

Little Big Planet delivers whether your just in control of your sackperson or in charge of an entire world. The feeling of coming together to challenge, explore and commune with other gamers is incredible and the creativity and expressiveness already being shown this early on is a testament to the gaming community. An experience so simple, yet complex is not one that should be passed up by any gamer. This is the type of game the industry should promote and build the casual fan base into the next great generation of gamers.

Pros:

  • Simple and fun gameplay
  • Everyone <3’s the Sackpeople
  • A vehicle for creative expression
  • A model for future user generated content

Cons:

  • Camera can be iffy

Final Verdict: Praise It
