Mix the Movie “Event Horizon”, Resident Evil style gameplay, and an Eli Roth like hatred for limbs and your finally outcome would be something close to Dead space… yes this game is that awesome. Dead Space takes the best from Sci-Fi and Horror genre and puts the beat down on them. Yes there will be points in the game where you’ll be shouting bloody mercy for some ill conceived mission objective but for the most part you’ll either be scared stiff by the great atmospheric setting or enjoy running amuck and shredding a zombie to pieces limb by limb. It’s unfortunate that this game has a few stumbles that keep it from being one of the truest masterpieces our industry has ever seen, but when you’re just a few missteps from achieving damn near perfection I think most will give you a pass.
From the time you take control of Isaac, the main playable character, you get the feeling that you’re in for something frightening but awesome and that feeling doesn’t fade away after a playthrough. With a plethora of weapons, armor and items to find, buy and upgrade repeat playthroughs are almost a must. Dead Space is an experience that cannot be missed and is a true testament to the evolution of gaming on all its fronts (storytelling, visuals to even sound effects). We’ve come a long way from the early days of gaming, and if from here on out we can have more games of this quality we as gamers are in for a real treat.
